Full Moon Burn Ritual

I've been practicing this ritual for years, and each time, I'm reminded of the transformative power we hold when we're willing to let go...

This doesn't require hours, 20-30 minutes of presence is more powerful than any amount of distracted time.

This full moon burn ritual is your invitation to release what's weighing you down and make space for who you're becoming.

  1. Create a Sacred Space - a serene environment where you won't be disturbed, somewhere you can be fully yourself, messy emotions and all. Light a candle if that feels right. Maybe play music that soothes your nervous system and burn some sage to clear the energy. There's no perfect way to do this; trust what your body and spirit need in this moment.

  2. Center Yourself – Place your hand on your heart and breathe. Feel your feet on the Earth beneath you. This is your whole self showing up—the light and the dark, the strong and the tender. BE here.

  3. Reflect and Write - Now, write it all down. The beliefs that tell you you're not enough. The fears keeping you small. The patterns you've been carrying that were never yours to begin with. Be raw. Be real. This paper will hold space for whatever you need to release—no judgment, just witness.

  4. Set Your Intention - Before you light the flame, speak your truth out loud: 'I release what no longer serves my highest self. I'm ready to let this go.' Feel the power in those words. That's your commitment to your own healing.

  5. Burn the List - Light the corner of the paper and place it in your fireproof container—a terra cotta pot, cast iron vessel, abalone shell, or fire pit all work beautifully. As the flames rise, watch what you've been carrying transform. Visualize these burdens lifting from your shoulders, your heart, your whole being. The smoke carries them away, making room for something new.

  6. Express Gratitude - As the last embers fade, place your hand on your heart again. Thank these experiences, even the painful ones, for the wisdom they've brought you. Thank yourself for showing up and doing this brave, necessary work. This is how we heal ourselves, and when we heal ourselves, the impact goes well beyond our individual lives.

7. Close the Ritual - Extinguish any candles. Take three deep breaths. Notice how you feel—maybe lighter, maybe emotional, maybe both. All of it is exactly right. You've just honored yourself in a profound way, and that ripple effect will touch everything and everyone around you.

The full moon's energy is amplifying everything you've just released and everything you're calling in. You've tapped into something ancient and powerful tonight.

A note on safety: honor yourself by using a fireproof container and choosing a safe space for your flames. This sacred work deserves that care.

If this practice resonates, come back to it with each full moon. There's profound wisdom in aligning with the lunar cycle—it reminds us that release and renewal aren't one-time events, but rhythms we can return to again and again.
